Oplan Bisita Iligan assists over 500 vulnerable residents

ILIGAN CITY (PIA) – The city government’s Oplan Bisita Iligan has provided health services to over 500 vulnerable residents over the past 18 months. The program delivers essential healthcare directly to residents’ homes, focusing on the needs of the city’s most at-risk populations.

The program, coordinated by the City Health Office, City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), Barangay Affairs Office, and other partner agencies, conducts visits every Wednesday to provide free medical check-ups, laboratory referrals, and medications to those in need.

Bong Capitan of Oplan Bisita Iligan reported that approximately 500 patients have been assisted since the program’s launch. Barangay workers help identify most vulnerable individuals, ensuring the program reaches those who need it the most.

“It’s truly an eye-opener. It makes us realize how fortunate we are and be grateful for whatever we have. We have seen so many hardships that our fellow Iliganons are going through,” Capitan said during the Iligan Media Forum.

In partnership with Councilor Samuel Huertas’ program, the initiative also provides mobility aids such as wheelchairs and crutches.

Recently, the team visited four patients from Barangays Buruun and Pala-o, including Antonio Antipolo, a stroke patient, who expressed gratitude for the support.

“Salamat sa gihatag, sa pagbisita dri sa Oplan Bisita sa akong asawa nga natagaan og wheelchair, mga tambal, dala check- up sa akong asawa. Sa tanang gipanghatag salamat sa mga nadawat namo karon,” Antipolo said.

(Thank you for the visit from Oplan Bisita and for providing my wife with a wheelchair, medications, and a check-up. We are grateful for everything we have received.)

Patients also receive food packs, including 10 kilos of rice, and financial aid of P10,000 from the CSWD. Since its launch, the program has distributed P2 million in cash assistance. (LELA/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte, with reports from CIO)
