CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The provincial government of Oriental Mindoro, through its Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO), in collaboration with the Municipal Environmental and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Baco, conducted an information, education, and communication (IEC) drive recently as part of the World Environment Day celebrations.
The drive aimed to elevate community awareness about environmental issues and sustainable practices.
A series of informative sessions highlighted the importance of solid waste management, tree protection ordinance, and charcoal and minerals transportation.
In a post by the Baco Public Information Office, additional activities such as tree planting were conducted, where volunteers, including barangay officials from Brgy. Dulangan II; personnel from Baco Municipal Police Station (MPS), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP); Department of Educations (DepEd), and residents gathered to plant 100 native seedlings. Among the species planted were “batino” and “kalumpit.”
To further exemplify the importance of the celebration, a roadside clean-up and consolidation of garbage collected were done by the volunteers and the local government. (JJGS/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro)
