CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro has granted financial assistance to 169 athletes who qualified for the Palarong Pambansa 2024.
A total of P 1 million was given by the provincial government, where each Mindoreño athlete received P5,000 during the distribution ceremony, This is to help the student-athletes while they are participating in the various sporting events in Cebu from July 9 -16.
This initiative is part of Governor Humerlito Dolor’s commitment to athletes who succeeded in qualifying for the Palarong Pambansa during the recent MIMAROPA Regional Athletic Association Meet, a post from the Provincial Information Office of Oriental Mindoro said
Dolor shared to the athletes that the initial financial aid given to them are separate from the financial award that will be given if they manage to bag medals during the conduct of the national event.
Dolor also submitted a letter of intent to the Department of Education, expressing his interest in hosting the Palarong Pambansa in 2027. This move aligns with the province’s vision of becoming a central hub for sports and youth development in the MIMAROPA region, the post added.
Also present in the distribution of financial aid to the athletes are key local government officials including Provincial Administrator Hubbert Dolor and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by Vice Governor Ejay Falcon. (JJGS/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro)
