QUEZON CITY, (PIA) –More than 11,000 LANI scholars of Taguig City comprising of the first batch under the first semester of school year 2023-2024 received their school allowance Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023.
The Taguig Scholarship Office received over 25,000 online applications for this first semester alone — the largest ever number of applicants for a single semester for the Scholarship Program, which started in 2011.
The number includes returning applicants who stopped studying when the pandemic occurred and 4,954 new applicants from the Embo barangays.
The first group of about 500 Taguig Scholars from Embo barangays received their allowances last September 25 and 26, 2023.
The L.A.N.I. Scholarship Program offers seven different types of scholarship for technical-vocational and college students, board and bar examinees, and professionals who wish to pursue law, medicine or graduate studies.
Qualified applicants may receive amounts ranging from P15,000 to P50,000 a year. Graduate school students may receive up to P110,000 on their final year.
To date, the program has produced more than 3,500 licensed professionals, with 42 of them topping licensure examinations.
