Over 12K farmers in Palawan receive fertilizer vouchers

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) — A total of 12,296 farmers in Palawan have already received the Fertilizer Discount Vouchers (FDV) from the government.

According to the Department of Agriculture (DA) MIMAROPA, farmers from the municipalities of Brooke’s Point, Quezon, Aborlan, Sofronio Española, Narra, Bataraza and Puerto Princesa City are the primary beneficiaries of the initiative.

The total value of the distributed vouchers was estimated at ₱60.4 million. Each voucher is worth ₱3,400 per hectare, which can be used by farmers to purchase fertilizers from accredited merchants of the department.

The program aims to support farmers by improving their crop yields and boosting rice production in the region.

The distribution of the FDVs was carried out in collaboration with the Municipal Agriculture Offices of said municipalities.

Barangay Kagawad Olivia E. Enano of Barangay Kamuning in Puerto Princesa City expressed her gratitude to the government for the discount voucher, calling it a significant help to the local farmers.

“Bilang opisyal po ng Barangay Kamuning, malaking tulong ang pinamigay ng DA na libreng abono sa aming mga magsasaka dahil ang iba po ay kulang sa budget para bumili. Kaya lubos po ang aming pasasalamat,” said Enano.

Vilma Atiga, president of the Narra Farmers Association, also thanked DA-MIMAROPA for the fertilizer discount vouchers, highlighting that the recent widespread flooding in the area had severely impacted their farms.

DA-MIMAROPA continues its efforts to reach more beneficiaries and strengthen the agricultural sector in Palawan and throughout the region. (OCJ/PIA MIMAROPA-Palawan/With information from DA MIMAROPA)
