CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) – Around 13,116 housing units are now being constructed under the ‘Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino’ or 4PH Program in Central Visayas.
This was disclosed by Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development 7 (DHSUD-7) regional director Atty. Lyndon D. Juntilla during the 18th episode of the ‘Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas’ program in Central Visayas on Sept. 24.
4PH is the Marcos administration’s flagship housing program that will build vertical housing projects, which include mid-rise and high-rise condominium buildings, to provides homes for the informal settlers in the country.
Juntilla said their agency aims to address the housing backlogs in the country before the end of Pres. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr’s term in 2028.
“This Pambansang Pabahay Program was declared as a flagship program under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. under EO. 34. This program addresses the issues of affordability and fund access in housing projects,” he said.
To address the housing needs in the region, DHSUD aims to deliver a total of 588,396 housing units in Central Visayas before 2028.
This target covers the housing unit production across all housing programs of DHSUD, including the 4PH program.
Juntilla said the country currently has a backlog of 6.5 million housing units.
4PH beneficiaries
Under the 4PH program, the LGUs will endorse the list of qualified beneficiaries, subject to membership validation, compliance, and processing by the PagIBIG Fund and DHSUD.
Qualified beneficiaries are any Filipino citizen aged18 to 65 years old and an active PagIBIG member with at least 24 months of contribution, no outstanding PagIBIG short-term loan, and those who did not avail of any other government housing programs.
Juntilla said the financial institution has crafted a solution for the informal settlers who are not PagIBIG members for them to still qualify as beneficiaries of the housing program.
Under the 4PH program, the qualified beneficiaries will also be granted a 5 percent interest subsidy, which will reduce the interest that they will be paying for their housing unit to only 1.25 percent.
The prevailing loan interest rate for housing units under the 4PH program is at 6.5 percent. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
