Over 2.5K MM cops ready to secure for ministerial conference

PASIG CITY, (PIA) — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is all set to provide security and maintain peace and order during the country’s hosting of the 2024 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) this week.

NCRPO chief PMGen Sidney Sultan Hernia emphasized the importance of comprehensive preparation and ensuring the safety of participants and the public.

Our security plan is fully in motion, integrating preventive and responsive measures. We are collaborating closely with other concerned agencies to maintain peace and order throughout the conference,” Hernia said.

Over 2,593 police personnel are deployed across key locations in Metro Manila, with established multi-layered security protocols. These include suspending permits to carry firearms outside residences from October 14 to 18. Security forces will also be positioned at event venues, tour venues, and accommodations for international delegates to prevent potential disruptions.

The 10th Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction will bring together governments, intergovernmental, international, national and civil society organizations, the private sector, science, academia and stakeholder groups to accelerate progress in reducing disaster risk.

The conference is a key mechanism for monitoring, reviewing, and enhancing cooperation in implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
