CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — Over 320 job seekers successfully found jobs during the series of job fairs by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA in 2024.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) MIMAROPA in Calapan City on Tuesday, September 17, DOLE MIMAROPA Assistant Regional Director Nicanor V. Bon reported that out of the 4,135 registered applicants, 320 were hired on-the-spot.
“Through these job fairs, ito po ay ginagawa natin upang matulungan at mabilis na makahanap ng trabaho ang mga kababayan natin,” he said.
He noted that the event was held in the five provinces in the region this year.
“Every now and then, nakikita natin ang mga job fair sa ating mga probinsya. Ito po ang ating bridge upang mailapit sa mga nangangailangan ng trabaho at saka yung gusto rin makapagtrabaho,” Bon said.
Employment opportunities mostly offered during the job fairs were for production workers, machine operators, customer service, cashiers, sales clerks, painters, carpenters, service crews, retail sales, construction, and financial and insurance activities.
Bon added that he wanted to see an increase in the number of hired applicants, saying “I want to see a higher proportion than that. I would really want to see a situation where every position posted at a job fair is filled up.” (AS/PIA MIMAROPA)
