Over 34K individuals benefit from digital training programs

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — A total of 34,349 individuals benefited from the digital training programs of the Department of the Information and Communications Technology (DICT) MIMAROPA.

In the latest episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, DICT MIMAROPA Regional Director Emmy Lou Delfin said that the agency continues to promote digital literacy and provide opportunities for residents across the region.

“This program is for those who have no knowledge of how to handle or operate a computer, all the way to advanced training. DICT provides all of this for free, either online or face-to-face,” Delfin said.

So far, DICT has conducted 294 digital literacy training sessions in MIMAROPA, where most of the trainees were from Oriental Mindoro with 25,527 beneficiaries, while 1,522 beneficiaries came from Occidental Mindoro.

Aside from digital literacy, Delfin added that the agency also implements the “Spark Technical Training” program, which aims to provide job opportunities to Filipinos through online work and freelancing.

“Part of DICT’s mandate is to help Filipinos find jobs through online opportunities and freelancing, where they can secure employment online,” she said, adding that through this program, DICT aims to help more MIMAROPA residents find jobs without the need to migrate to Metro Manila.

DICT continues to conduct various training programs to prepare more residents for opportunities in the digital economy. (JH-OJT/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro)
