SAN FERNANDO City, La Union (PIA) — To maintain safety and security in the Ilocos Region for the observance of All Saints’s Day and All Souls’ Day or Undas, the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO-1) installed 3,461 police personnel across strategic locations in the four provinces.
The ‘Ligtas Undas 2024’ is an initiative by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to increase police visibility and to boost response to probable incidents.
Police force will be present at the most visited areas during All Saints to All Souls day celebration.
PRO-1 Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Lou F. Evangelista stated that police personnel are fully prepared for the upcoming weekend holiday.
“We are fully committed to safeguarding the public as they honor their loved ones,” he said.
“With the collaborative support of our partners and communities, we aim to make this year’s Undas observance safe, secure, and peaceful for everyone,” he added.
A total of 2,039 personnel will be stationed at 393 cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria, with an additional 259 officers assigned to monitor popular recreational spots, 349 deployed to safeguard commercial zones, and 562 patrolling national highways and main roads in city and town centers.
Moreover, 42 personnel will be assigned to secure roads under construction.
To ensure security at transportation hubs, 53 officers will be stationed at airports and 157 at bus terminals.
In addition, 567 augmented units and partnered with 1,711 advocacy groups to help police force in securing a safe and convenient ‘Undas’ for the public. (MJTAB/REB/PIA Region 1)
