Over 5,000 Pangasinenses to benefit from gov’t jobs, health fair

DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – Over 5,000 Pangasinenses are set to benefit from “Trabaho at Serbisyong Pangkalusugan sa Bagong Pilipinas,” a one-stop government services fair to be held on April 25, 2025 at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome.

The event is organized by the Office of the President, in partnership with several Ilocos region government agencies, to promote self-sufficiency and inclusive development.

The fair will provide employment opportunities, cash assistance, and free medical services to thousands of residents.

Employment, livelihood support

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will facilitate a job fair with 17 local employers offering 3,219 job vacancies and three overseas employers offering 753 jobs abroad.

The job fair is open to all walk-in applicants, aiming to reduce unemployment and underemployment in the region.

Meanwhile, 2,143 displaced workers under DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program will receive P4,680 for 10 days of work.

Cash assistance

Around 3,000 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) will receive P3,000 each through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Marie Angela Gopalan, DSWD 1 regional director, emphasized the event’s purpose.

“This significant activity forms part of the government’s unwavering commitment to support the transition of 4Ps beneficiaries toward self-sufficiency,” she said.

She emphasized that the activity reflects the united efforts of government offices in building a Bagong Pilipinas where opportunities are accessible to every Filipino.

Free health services

The Department of Health (DOH) will offer free medical services, including consultations, lab tests (CBC, urinalysis, uric acid testing, blood typing), dental services, hearing tests, and free medicines.

Food security

The Department of Agriculture (DA) will bring Kadiwa ng Pangulo to the event, offering affordable agri-based products to promote food security and support local farmers.

Other government agencies such as PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and the Social Security System (SSS) will also provide frontline services during the event.(CCMT/EMSA/PIA, Pangasinan)
