Over P1.6M illegal drugs seized in Iloilo in a day

ILOILO CITY (PIA) – – The Iloilo police seized over P1.6 million worth of illegal drugs from three high-value individuals and five cohorts who were arrested in separate operations conducted in a day.

The first operation, according to a report from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), took place at Kinalkalan-Balanti-an Peoples Village in Brgy Balanti-an in Balasan town at around 12:30 P.M. on October 8, 2024. It was carried out by Balasan Municipal Police Station (MPS) Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) and the target was alias “Madam,” a female of legal age with a live-in partner who is a resident of the said place and classified as a high-value individual.

Also targeted was her minor male person cohort, a resident of Brgy Bayuyan, Estancia, Iloilo. Confiscated from their possession were approximately 104 grams of suspected illegal drugs or shabu with an estimated standard drug price of PhP707,200.00.

On the same day, the Balasan MPS -SDET confiscated approximately 72.7 grams of suspected illegal drugs (shabu), with an estimated standard drug price of PhP 494,360.00 during its second operation at Purok 2, Brgy. Camambugan, Balasan. The illegal drugs were seized from alias “Jay-R,” a 38-year-old male with a live-in partner, also residing in Brgy Balanti-an and classified as high-value individual. The other target was alias “Jay-jay,” a 37-year-old male with a live-in partner residing in Purok Saya-saya, Brgy Maya, Balasan, Iloilo, classified as a street-level individual.

The third operation was carried out by Oton MPS – SDET at around 9:42 P.M. at Brgy. Poblacion East, Oton on the same day. The team arrested alias “Gino,” a 37-year-old single male, who is classified as a high-value individual and his three cohorts.  Confiscated from their possession were approximately 60 grams of suspected drugs with an estimated standard drug price of PhP408,000.00

Iloilo Police Director Police Colonel Bayani M. Razalan lauded the exceptional performance of the operating team. He also conveyed his appreciation to the Ilonggo community for their ongoing support in the campaign against eradicating illegal drugs in Iloilo province. The operations underscore the ongoing commitment of IPPO to combat proliferation of illegal drugs and enhance community safety.

 “I commend the outstanding performance of our operating teams for neutralizing the operation of these drug personalities in our beloved province. This is a significant blow to our fight against illegal drugs.
