LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY (PIA5/Albay)—The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Bicol intensifies their effort to conduct information dissemination drive in far flung barangays in Albay through the Parokya ng OWWA sa Barangay at Pamilyang OFW’s campaign.
According to OWWA-Bicol Labor Communication Officer, Maria Via Dometita, the activity endeavours to establish OFW’s association with the communities and discuss support programs for Overseas Filipino Workers(OFW) and their families.
‘’The ongoing campaign aims to build associations in different parts of Bicol like in Albay especially in far flung barangays,’’ Dometita added.

Dometita noted that the proposed associations will help to establish OFW communities as a contact person from different barangays to strengthen dissemination campaigns.
‘’We are conducting orientations about OWWA programs for OFWs and their dependents. If they have identified an OFW that encounter problems in their foreign workplace and a resident in their barangay, the association may refer it to us and then we will endorse it to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO),’’ Dometita said.
She stressed that they will be providing different support and livelihood programs to OFWs and their dependents.
“Included also in the orientation are the livelihood support services that the OFWs will receive from us, if they come back in a distressed situation or did not finish their work contracts,” she said.
Dometita added that the campaign dissemination will continue to reach different areas in Albay.
This week they will return to Cagraray Island in Bacacay, Albay and to other remaining barangays to form associations in their areas.
“It will continue, in fact we will go back to Cagraray and the other barangays that we already visited to organize and form an association because we prepared different programs for them,” she added. (PIA5/Albay/With the reports of Judith Valenzuela)
