BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) – The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), in partnership with the Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya, provided financial assistance to Overseas Filpino Workers (OFWs) in the province.
Dolly Rose Minas, chief of the PLGU’s Public Employment and Service Division, said 102 OFWs were given funding assistance amounting to P10,000 each for non-active OFWs while P20,000 each for active OFWs.
Active OFWs pay their membership fee of P1,000 to P1,500 every two years while inactive OFWs are non-paying workers.
“The OFWs received assistance through the Welfare Assistance Program, Balik Pinas Balik Hanapbuhay Program, and the Livelihood Assistance Program,” she said.
The OWWA also handed financial help amounting to P120,000 in burial assistance to the family of an OFW from Bagabag who passed away due to cancer illness.
The OFW beneficiaries were also oriented on entrepreneurship through a Financial Awareness Seminar and Small Business Management Training from the Department of Trade and Industry workers to prepare them to use their financial assistance for their livelihood projects and other endeavors.
