OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–The Misamis Occidental provincial government provided assistance to six families, totaling 24 people, who suffered severe damage as a result of the fire that raged in Purok Rizal, Barangay Bacolod, Ozamiz City.
Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal, represented by Board Member Eduardo “Tata” Cebedo, and Ozamiz Mayor Henry “Indy” Oaminal Jr., also represented by his Vice Mayor, Simplicia Neri, led the distribution of financial aid amounting to P10,000 for each family. The fire victims also received relief goods and bottled water.
“Kami sa probinsya among giampingan ang pondo aron makahatag kaninyo ug mga ayuda sama sa financial assistance nga P10,000 ug food packs [We in the province took care of our funds so that we can provide aid such as this financial assistance worth P10,000 and food packs],” Cebedo said during the distribution of assistance to the fire victims, as he expressed Oaminal’s commitment to supporting the residents until they get back to their feet.
Cebedo highlighted that both the provincial government and the Ozamiz city government are closely working together to help ease the situation of the families who lost their homes and properties due to the unprecedented fire event.
Vice Mayor Neri, meanwhile, vowed that the city government will continue to support the fire victims until they get back to normalcy.
“Kining gihatag namo karon bahalag ginagmay basta gikan gyud sa among kasingkasing. Ayaw lang mo kabalaka ka’y ang atong mayor naghuna-huna gyud og unsaon pagtabang ang mga naapektuhan [This aid we are providing now, although it is just a little, comes from our hearts. Do not worry because our mayor thinks about how to help those who are affected],” she said.
Emily Dalid, one of the fire victims, said the government’s cash aid serves as a huge help for them to start fresh after the incident.
In an interview, Dalid said they would use the financial support to repair their house.
“Wala ko ga expect nga ing-ani ang mahitabo karong adlawa nga nia mo tanan dinhi, gasuporta bisan sa among gibati nga kasakit nga nawad-an og panimalay, pero sa inyong tabang nakwaan-kwaan among kaguol [I did not expect that this would happen today, where you are all here supporting us even though we feel sad that we lost our home, but through your help, our sadness is lessened],” she added.
The provincial government has committed to providing the people of Misamis Occidental with genuine services in any untoward circumstances. (PGMO/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
