The capitation fund is deemed to invigorate and drive the Philhealth Konsulta Benefit package implementation to greater heights, as Philhealth puts emphasis on preventive care as pathway in achieving Universal Health Care (UHC).

Under the Konsulta Benefit  Package,  Philhealth provides funds to rural health units and other accredited service providers to upgrade their services, including equipment, drugs and medicines.

The capitation fund for the Konsulta package is released by tranche based on the performance of the accredited service provider.

Baguio City is among the seven local government units in the country to form a primary care provider network under the UHC, which will integrate their resources and services for a more effective delivery of primary care services through the Konsulta package.

In the memorandum of agreement signed by the Philhealth officials and Magalong, the total capitation fund for Baguio City is P66.5 million.

Mayor Magalong expressed gratitude to the PHIC for its support in improving access to primary health care for healthier citizens of Baguio. (JDP/RMC-PIA CAR)
