P25M-PAMANA road project in Mt. Province to benefit farmers in Upper Bauko

BAUKO, Mountain Province (PIA) – Residents of barangays in the Upper Bauko area are set to benefit from a road improvement project that will ease transport of agricultural products and enhance access to government services, contributing to economic growth.

Office of the Presidential Adviser for Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr., and Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan, Jr led the groundbreaking of the Balicanao-Am-am Provincial Road improvement project in Balicanao, Sadsadan in the municipality of Bauko on September 13, 2024.

The P25 million project is funded by the Office of the President and OPAPRU under its PAMANA or the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan program.

The PAMANA is a convergence program that extends development interventions to isolated communities in the country, ensuring that they are not left behind.

The Secretary called on the Provincial Engineering Office and the Bauko local officials to ensure the successful implementation of the project for the benefit foremost of communities around the Mt. Data plateau. This, he said, will play a very important role in economic growth and poverty alleviation especially for the people of this vegetable-producing area .

The provincial government and the Bauko officials and residents are very grateful for the continued support of OPAPRU to the province, improving mobility, community access to socio-economic interventions, strengthening the promotion of peace, and ushering development.

[Thank you OPAPRU for bringing this project. This will help the farmers.] Another resident mentioned that the improvement of the said road will benefit the barangay especially the students.

The Governor said the project when completed, will not only ease transport among farmers and residents, but it can also serve as alternate route when the main roads like the Mt. Data Cliff and Ampingke, Abatan, are closed due to landslides.

Meanwhile, a ceremonial cheque worth P105 million was also handed to the provincial local government unit for the implementation of other OPAPRU projects in Mountain Province. (JDP/VJLT-PIA Mountain Province)
