DAVAO CITY (PIA) – More than 6,000 benefited from over P28 million-worth of livelihood and emergency employment programs from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI, recently in Davao del Norte.

Labor Assistant Secretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay, Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) Director Ahmma Charisma Lobrin-Satumba, and DOLE XI acting regional director lawyer Jason P. Balais, led the initiative during the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair held at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex, Tagum City, recently.

A total of Php23.1 million was disbursed to 5,000 beneficiaries from various towns across Davao del Norte on June 6. These individuals participated in a minimum 10-day paid community work through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers Program (TUPAD). First Lady Marie Louise “Liza” Araneta Marcos, alongside local officials, attended the activity.

The following day, an additional P5.74 million was distributed by DOLE and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez to 1,162 beneficiaries. This assistance included livelihood grants for five associations in Tagum City to support ambulant vendors, dressmakers, and fisherfolks.

Balais stated, “the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair exemplifies our enduring commitment to fostering inclusive growth and empowering every Filipino to realize their full potential. Through concerted efforts and strategic partnerships, we continue to build a nation where no one is left behind.”

The assistance not only provides immediate relief and employment but also empowers communities to pursue sustainable livelihoods, reinforcing the administration’s transformative vision for a prosperous Philippines. (RVC-PIA-11 with reports and photos from DOLE-XI)
