PAF, BFP, BJMP provide career guidance to Quezon students

PAGBILAO, Quezon (PIA) — To equip some high school students in choosing their career paths, the Philippine Air Force (PAF), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) conduct a Career Guidance Employment Coaching and Campus Peace and Development Forum at Talipan National High School Gymnasium in Pagbilao town recently.

This collaboration aims to strengthen the common goal of the education sector in providing students with the necessary awareness and knowledge required to plan for their career after graduation.

Government officials and members of the security forces provided leadership skills training and presented various career opportunities within their ranks.

Guided by the DepEd Memorandum No. 169 series of 2018, the career guidance modules were issued in support to the implementation of the Grade 12 Career Guidance Program. Aside from determining a clear path after Senior High School (SHS), one of the objectives of the program is to apply employment readiness skills in work-based learning institutions for internships, shadowing or mentoring.

JO2 Joefrie B. Anglo, chief of the community relations service unit of the BJMP-Quezon District Jail served as one of the resource persons during the culminating activity where he highlighted the importance of career guidance for students.

“We are guiding them [students] because we want them to become productive members of the society, and we are here to intensify also our recruitment for them to have a better future through having the right career path,” said Anglo.

“The program is not only a bridge from the student to the government, but can also bridge peace and development to our learners that is why we are also strengthening our partnership with the Department of Education to prevent rebel recruitment among our youth.”, Anglo added.
