VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) — The Pag-IBIG Fund Vigan Branch reminded local employers in Ilocos Sur to comply with their duties and responsibilities to their employees.
Pag-IBIG Fund Vigan Branch Head Aileen Abelanes said, “It is important to let the employers and their representatives know how they can comply with Pag-IBIG’s mandates, including the remittance of employee contributions, the benefits of the members, and the process for housing loan applications, short-term loans, and retirement savings programs.”
She said they have bi-annual forums to inform employers of their duties, how they can effectively manage the contributions of their employees, and how they can maximize the benefits available for them.
These include pre-screening their employees for short-term loan applications, ensuring that their employees have a registration tracking number or membership identification prior to submission of a remittance list to the Fund, serving as an official link between Pag-IBIG and employee members about its program and activities, and attending all meetings, forums, and assemblies called by the Fund.
The first of the said Employer’s Forums this year was conducted recently at the Hotel Linda Suites in Vigan City, which was attended by 90 local employers in the first district of the province.
“It is an opportunity for us, employers and employees alike, to get updates on the Fund’s programs and services, and they remind us to properly fill out the forms needed,” said Apple Viernes of the Metro Vigan Water District in an interview on Friday.
Aside from the update on the status or dividends, they also discussed the new programs on health and education; this would be really helpful to all our 65 regular employees, 31 job order workers, and the emergency staff lined up for the membership, stated Viernes.
She also stated that they have employees who have availed of loans and have Pag-IBIG MP2 savings.
“Last time we had a meeting, we again encouraged our employees to avail of the MP2 because it is good for them to have additional savings,” Viernes said.
She further commended the Fund for regularly updating the employers, which enables them to inform their employees, and thanked them for conducting learning sessions.
Abelanes said the forum is a way to update employers on the programs and new innovations of the Pag-IBIG Fund.
She explained that it also provides a platform for them to raise questions and seek clarifications on specific issues related to Pag-IBIG contributions and benefits.
Moreover, she said, “The Employer’s Forum in Ilocos Sur reflects Pag-IBIG’s ongoing commitment to promoting financial literacy and ensuring that all workers have access to socialized housing and financial assistance.”
For more information on Pag-IBIG programs and upcoming events, she encouraged interested parties to visit their official website or visit their office on the third floor of Plaza Maestro in Vigan City. (AMB/VGS, PIA Ilocos Sur)
