Pag-IBIG Fund: Steady demand for housing loans in Oriental Mindoro

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The housing loan program in Oriental Mindoro has seen a consistent and steady flow of applicants, with an average of 10 applications received for processing each month.

This was confirmed during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on November 12, 2024, by Donald F. Alilio, PagIBIG Fund Calapan City branch head overseeing the program, who noted that the number reflects a stable demand for home financing in the province.

Alilio said that the ongoing interest in the housing loan program highlights a persistent need for accessible housing options in the province.

“The steady average of 10 applications per month is a positive indicator that more residents are seeking to own homes, and our program is providing the support they need,” he said.

In his presentation during the forum, the housing loan program is designed to help individuals and families achieve homeownership by offering financial assistance with favorable terms.

Alilio emphasized that the program has become an essential tool for many residents, particularly those in rural areas, to secure the funding needed for building or buying a home.

Despite the steady flow of applicants, Alilio acknowledged that there are challenges, explaining that while the program is meeting local demand, there is still untapped potential in the market.

“We continue to look for ways to increase awareness of the program and ensure more people take advantage of this opportunity,” he added.

Alilio expressed hope that the program would see further growth, particularly if new housing initiatives are launched or if the economic landscape improves.

“The average of 10 applications per month, while consistent, is a figure that program administrators are keen to improve as they strive to meet the needs of the growing population in Oriental Mindoro,” he said.

As the demand for affordable housing continues to rise, the local branch here is preparing for a potential uptick in applications and is committed to helping residents achieve their dream of homeownership. (AS/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro)
