CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The Pag-IBIG Fund (HDMF) has officially opened its calamity loan program for members in Oriental Mindoro who were affected by Typhoon Kristine, which caused widespread damage to homes and infrastructure in the province.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Philippine Information Agency-MIMAROPA on November 12, Pag-IBIG Fund Calapan City Branch head Donald F. Alilio said that eligible members in the province can now apply for loans to help them recover from the devastating effects of the storm.
The program is part of the agency’s ongoing effort to support Filipino workers in times of crisis.
Typhoon Kristine, which struck last week, caused heavy flooding, landslides, and strong winds that affected thousands of families in Oriental Mindoro.
According to the latest reports from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the typhoon left a trail of destruction in several municipalities, displacing residents and damaging homes, crops, and businesses.
Residents residing in the municipalities of Puerto Galera, Naujan, Victoria, Pola, Socorro, Pinamalayan, Mansalay, and Bulalacao are all eligible to apply for the program.
Anita F. Rico, Pag-IBIG Fund Calapan City Branch Marketing Specialist, explained that under the program, members residing or working in the affected areas may borrow up to ₱20,000, with a low interest rate and a payment term of up to 24 months.
“The loan is designed to provide immediate financial assistance for repair and rebuilding efforts, as well as to help members cope with the aftermath of the natural disaster,” she said.
To be eligible, Pag-IBIG members must have made at least 24 monthly contributions and must be residing or working in areas that were declared under a state of calamity due to Typhoon Kristine.
The loan application process has been streamlined, allowing members to submit their requests online through the PagIBIG Fund’s official website or via their mobile app.
For more information on the program and to apply, members are encouraged to visit the official Pag-IBIG website or contact their local Pag-IBIG branches in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. (AS/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro)
