Pagadian City’s newly-opened dialysis center offers free treatment

PAGADIAN CITY (PIA) – After receiving their license to operate, the newly opened dialysis center operated by the city government is now ready to provide free hemodialysis treatment to patients in need.

Jovel Luminog, first patient to avail of the facility’s services, expressed gratitude for the free treatment, as it significantly reduces the financial burden of regular dialysis sessions.

“Dako gyud nakong pasalamat kay naa na gyud silay dialysis center diri sa Pagadian ug nagpasalamat ko kay ako gyud [una naka avail] sa dialysis, kay wala pa gyud pud ko slot sa pagkakaron,” the patient shared.

(I am very grateful that there is now a dialysis center here in Pagadian, and I am thankful that I was the first to avail of the service because I currently don’t have a slot elsewhere.)

The facility was officially inaugurated on March 21, with health officials and representatives from the local government in attendance.

According to the City Government, the project took nearly two years to complete, ensuring that it is fully equipped with laboratory equipment and facilities to provide efficient services to patients suffering from kidney disease. The local government also encouraged Pagadian residents to take advantage of the free services for their health and well-being.

City Health Officer Dr. Debbie Tan emphasized the center’s commitment to quality care, stating, “Our clinic is not just a facility, but a commitment to providing the highest standard of care for those who need it most. We understand that dialysis is more than just a treatment; it’s an essential part of life for many individuals. And it’s our mission to ensure that every patient who walks through our doors feels not only cared for, but supported, valued, and loved.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Joemer Balaoro, the facility’s nephrologist, assured the public that he will do his best to take care of the patients and share his knowledge and expertise in treating and managing their dialysis patients.

The Dialysis Center is located within the City Health Office Building and is managed by Dr. Joemer Balaoro. It can accommodate up to six sessions per day with a free dialyzer and began its operations on March 24. (EDT/HTB/PIA9-Zamboanga del Sur/with reports from Pagadian News Channel)
