Pagadian Police to public: Always carry valid ID

Pagadian City Police Station Chief for Operations, Police Lieutenant Johnny V. Timsan, and Chief of City Community Affairs and Development, Police Captain Virginie Bartiana, clarify to the viewers and listeners of Kapihan sa PIA and DXPR the reason for PCPS' call for the public to carry a valid ID or document, addressing the confusion surrounding the advisory.

PAGADIAN CITY (PIA) — The Pagadian City Police Station (PCPS) urges residents and visitors to carry with them a valid identification document (ID)  or any document for identity verification at checkpoints.

The PCPS highlights that this measure forms part of their anti-criminality strategy to maintain peace and order for both residents and visitors.

Police officers will check IDs or documents with personal information and a photo at the checkpoints, monitored through closed-circuit television (CCTV).

This reminder initially appeared on the PCPS official Facebook page, sparking varied reactions from netizens, mostly cynical about it.

Ongoing police operations at various checkpoints in Pagadian City ensure the safety and order of the community.

In response, Police Captain Virginie Bartiana clarified that the ID requirement primarily targets motorists passing through city checkpoints.

She emphasized that “Carrying an ID is basic and is not a new law.”

Although checks occur only at checkpoints, residents are encouraged to carry an ID as a standard practice.

She added that digital IDs are also acceptable. For convenience, individuals who may find it difficult to carry physical IDs are advised to take a clear photo of their ID and save it on their mobile phones.

For any concerns, individuals may contact the Pagadian City Police Station Hotline at 09109348220. (CCP/JCN/PIA9-Zamboanga del Sur)
