MANILA, (PIA) — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has officially lifted the La Niña alert, signaling a return to normal rainfall conditions across the Philippines.
In a recent statement, PAGASA explained that climate monitoring showed La Niña has dissipated in the central and equatorial Pacific. “La Niña conditions are no longer present,” the agency confirmed, adding that sea surface temperatures have now reached neutral levels.
As a result, the above-normal rainfall patterns previously seen in areas like Luzon, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and Northeastern Mindanao are not expected to continue.
PAGASA also noted that there are currently no El Niño or La Niña conditions observed or expected to develop in the tropical Pacific over the next three months. Neutral conditions are anticipated to prevail until the September–October–November 2025 season.
Despite this positive news, PAGASA urged the public to remain cautious, as warm and dry conditions typical of the season are still affecting the country. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
