BAGUIO CITY (PIA) – The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) chief committed support for the development of facilities of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).

During his talk at the PMA Alumni Homecoming on Feb. 15, 2025, PAGCOR chairperson and chief executive officer Alejandro Tengco pledged funding for the PMA modern warfare laboratory.

“PAGCOR na rin po ang magpopondo nang tayo po ay maging up to date na rin sa mga bagong teknolohiya sa ating sandatahang lakas,” Tengco stated.

Acknowledging the role of PMA in moulding the future leaders of the country,  he also assured funding for more facilities for the PMA Sports Complex including a martial arts studio and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

He also pledged  financial support for the construction of the Candidate Control Liaison Office at the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Center compound in Quezon City. This is where PMA applicants undergo their  complete physical exam before entering the academy. The building is now in deterioration and in need of total rehabilitation and renovation.

“Ang building na ‘yun ay hindi lamang ire-rehabilitate o ire-renovate, gigibain po natin at itatayo ang bagong building na siyang sasalubong sa ating mga bagong kadete ng PMA,” Tengco  said.

Patient transport vehicles  will also be delivered to the Academy, he added.

PAGCOR has been supporting the PMA and the broader community of the AFP.

In 2012, PAGCOR released P105 million  for the rehabilitation and improvement of the PMA sports complex to improve the physical well-being of the cadets.

In 2016, two of PAGCOR’s licensees donated P305 million for the construction of the PMA barracks through their respective foundations. In 2019, a foundation turned over another P335 million for the cadet barracks to provide  the cadets a conducive environment for learning and growth. The foundation again provided P80 million  for the repair and rehabilitation of the previously built PMA barracks after it had already begun showing signs of wear and tear.

In September 2023, a total of P60 million was granted for the construction of the Veterans Memorial Medical Center Magiting Veterans wing.

In January 2025, PAGCOR, in partnership with the AFP Medical Center, inaugurated the new 5-storey watcher’s dorm at V. Luna Medical Center in Quezon City.

PAGCOR also targets to turnover to the PMA Alumni Association Inc. before the year ends the Multi-Purpose Office Building at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. (JDP/DEG-PIA CAR)
