MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)– The Paglaum Job Fair at Limketkai Center on January 23 provided a platform for employment opportunities, resulting in 157 job seekers hired on the spot.
It offered an abundance of opportunities, with a total of 5,324 job openings made available to participants. Of these, 3,579 positions were offered by local companies, while 1,743 were allocated for overseas employment.
The Province of Misamis Oriental, in collaboration with partner organizations and government agencies, organized the event, which 64 local companies and five overseas employment agencies supported, demonstrating the province’s commitment to addressing unemployment.
The in-demand overseas positions included nurses, caregivers, and skilled workers in countries such as Qatar, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom.
Over 1,000 job seekers attended, showcasing the event’s success in connecting employers with qualified candidates. Overseas employment agencies also participated, offering diverse career options across various industries.
In addition to employment opportunities, the job fair featured essential services and support from several government agencies, including PhilHealth, the Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – Misamis Oriental.
These agencies provided attendees with information and services, such as job-related documentation and skills development guidance, making the event more comprehensive and accessible for all participants.
The Paglaum Job Fair was a collaborative effort between the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), underscoring the province’s commitment to tackling unemployment and enhancing livelihoods.
