MANILA, (PIA) — Malacañang suspends government work and classes in all levels in the cities of Manila and Pasay on October 14 and 15 (Monday, Tuesday), for the 10th Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR).
Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin issued Memorandum Circular No. 66 on Thursday, in preparation for the high-level conference which will be held from October 14 to October 18, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila.

The suspension of work in government offices and classes in said cities is in anticipation of the numerous participants that will travel to and within Pasay and Manila.
However, the circular noted that the agencies involved with the delivery of basic and health series, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and other vital series shall continue their operations and render necessary services.
The circular also noted that the suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to their discretion.
The 10th Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction will bring together governments, intergovernmental, international, national and civil society organizations, the private sector, science, academia and stakeholder groups to accelerate progress in reducing disaster risk.
