Palawan soldier named as one of the 2024 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) — A Palawan soldier was named one of the 2024 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos announced by the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) on August 8.

Staff Sergeant Michael S. Rayanon PN(M), a Public Affairs Non-Commissioned Officer of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 3 stationed in San Vicente, Palawan, has been included in this year’s Metrobank Foundation 10 Outstanding Filipinos for the military sector.

Outstanding Filipinos, recognized as the most prestigious career-service award in the Philippines, annually honors exemplary individuals from the academe, military, and police sectors who have made a significant impact on their communities and the nation.

Metrobank Foundation described Rayanon as Palawan’s Empowerment Vanguard for the Indigenous Peoples.

As a Civil-Military Operations Operator, he is dedicated to transforming the youth and the indigenous communities in Palawan through proactive engagement and empowerment initiatives, a press release from MBFI said.

He played a key role in addressing Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) threats; employing diverse training methods and engaging local authorities to foster collaboration, and safeguarding Palawan against the resurgence of CTGs.

He also leads the implementation of Barangay Development Projects in San Vicente and several Serbisyo Caravans in Northern Palawan contributing to the province’s declaration as insurgency-free.

Rayanon like other awardees will receive a cash award amounting to one million pesos (net of tax) and the iconic “The Flame” trophy on September 4, 2024, in the conferment ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Manila.

The MBFOF is implemented in partnership with the Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, PS Bank, Rotary Club of Makati Metro, and Rotary Club of New Manila East.
