Pampanga opens dialysis center in Guagua

GUAGUA, Pampanga (PIA) — The Pampanga Provincial Dialysis Center 1 has opened, catering to indigent patients from the municipalities of Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, Porac, Sasmuan, and Sta. Rita.

According to the Provincial Health Office (PHO), the center can accommodate up to 120 patients daily in two shifts from Monday to Saturday.

Each patient may avail of up to 156 dialysis sessions annually, with assistance from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.

The facility was put up in partnership with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and will be managed under a Public-Private Partnership scheme between the provincial government of Pampanga and B. Braun Philippines.

PAGCOR allotted P52.9 million for the procurement of 43 dialysis machines and a water reverse osmosis system while DPWH earmarked P29.3 million for the construction of the building.

PAGCOR Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Alejandro Tengco expressed continued support for other upcoming healthcare facilities in the province, including the Multi-Specialty Hospital in Clark.

“We are in the right direction. If every province had this type of project, there is no doubt that we would be able to help many of our fellow Filipinos,”  he pressed.

Meanwhile, the provincial government is set to open four more dialysis centers including those in the City of San Fernando and Apalit, the latter of which is scheduled to be inaugurated next month.

As of the latest PHO records, the province is currently assisting 3,494 dialysis patients across Pampanga. (CLJD/MJSC,PIA 3-Pampanga)
