DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Pangasinan inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Monday with the Pasig City DRRMO for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 1620-29023 signed on November 6, 2023, permitted Governor Ramon Guico III to negotiate with Pasig City on the establishment of a cooperation framework related to disaster management.
“Marami kaming matututunan sa inyo because you are a highly urbanized local government unit (LGU) at very densely populated. So, we could exchange best practices, we can benchmark, at siguradong mapapakinabangan,” said Guico as he thanked Pasig City Mayor Victor Ma. Regis Sotto for choosing the province as their partner in disaster management.
Under the MOU, the provincial government of Pangasinan and the city government of Pasig agreed to cooperate in disaster preparedness, disaster relief services, and disaster response training.
Further, Pangasinan and Pasig City also agreed to cooperate in the aspect of good governance and other aspects of public service.
“Sa lokal na pamahalaan ay hindi masama ang mangopya kung mayroon kayong magandang ginagawa na dapat naming tularan, at kung may maganda kaming practices ay hindi rin kami dapat madamot na i-share ito sa iba,” said Sotto.
Guico and Sotto assured each other that they would work together and exchange ideas in disaster programs. (JCR/AMB/JCDR/PIA Pangasinan)
