SAN FERNANDO City, La Union (PIA) — Emphasizing the contributions of its allies, Pangasinan State University (PSU) honored its collaborators during its Stakeholders’ Night and strengthened partnership through the signing of memorandum of understanding (MOU) with partners.
The program aimed to honor the substantial contributions of the partnering agencies and institutions while cultivating fresh collaborations for the university.
This event is part of their Internationalization Week 2024 and the 45th founding anniversary of the university.
Dubbed “Pangirayëw tan Pantutuyaw” (recognition of one’s achievement and gathering), this event took place on Monday, at the Dr. Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall of PSU Main Campus in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
Awarded collaborators included representatives from the academe, government agencies, media, and private entities.
The ceremonial signing of MOU with academic institutions such as the Universidad de Dagupan, University of Luzon, Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation, Perpetual Help College of Pangasinan, and Universiti Teknologi MARA, as well as the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 1, strengthens PSU’s ties to meet its vision of a leading industry-driven state university in the ASEAN region and also fortifies collaboration to further enhance the university’s connections.
The MOU shall also promote cooperation in the conduct of academic, research, and extension services and information exchanges between PSU and stakeholders.
PIA Region 1 assistant regional head, April Bravo, said the MOU with PSU will further PIA’s mandate to serve as the government’s primary information arm and to promote transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement.
“By working closely with PSU, PIA Region 1 can contribute to the university’s success and help it achieve its goals. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership presents and look forward to working collaboratively with PSU to create a more informed and engaged community,” she said.
Dr. Elbert Galas, university president, highlighted the importance of collaboration with partners as essential to achieving their shared goals.
“Our vision for the future is bold, and it requires continued collaboration,” Galas said.
“We aim to foster an environment where our students can excel, our faculty can pursue groundbreaking research and inventions, and where our partnerships can lead to meaningful change in society,” he added.
PSU is the lone state university in the province of Pangasinan with nine campuses located in the towns of Lingayen, Alaminos City, Asingan, Bayambang, Binmaley, Infanta, San Carlos City, Santa Maria, and Urdaneta City. (AMB/REB/PIA Region 1)
