Parañaque launches local Miss U Philippines pageant to promote ‘mega city’

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Parañaque City government officially launched its local Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) competition on February 5 at the Forum I Function Halls of Solaire Resort and Casino.

Atty. Melanie Soriano-Malaya, head of the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), emphasized that the localized MUPH serves as an effective platform to promote Parañaque as the “Mega City By The Bay.”

This is a vision that the city government is committed to making a reality,” she said.

The participants in this year’s competition are candidates from the city’s Ginoo and Binibining Parañaque pageants.

Malaya noted that the annual search for Ginoong and Binibining Parañaque is organized by the City Tourism Office, led by Mel Alipo-on, and serves as a training ground for future Miss Universe Philippines candidates.

Winners of the local pageant will have the opportunity to represent Parañaque City in the annual Miss Universe Philippines competition.

Leonora “Kleoh” Viray, the MUPH Parañaque Local Director, announced that Centerpoint Training Services, which holds the MUPH Parañaque franchise, will provide training programs for the contestants, ensuring they are well-prepared for the competition ahead. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
