QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Pasay City government on Tuesday hosted the 12th Global Youth Summit at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, attracting over 10,000 young attendees dedicated to exploring sustainable development goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations.
Peter Pardo, chief-of-staff to Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, announced that the event was organized in partnership with SM Cares and the Global Peace Foundation. This collaboration aimed to create a platform for youth engagement, emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing global challenges.
The summit focused on the UN’s SDGs, a universal call to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by the year 2030.
Pardo explained that the SDGs encompass a wide range of issues, including the eradication of hunger, the fight against AIDS, and the elimination of discrimination against women and girls.
