ILOILO CITY (PIA) — Acknowledging the efforts and exemplary performance of government workers in the region, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) 6 held its annual awarding rites dubbed “Pasidungog” on Sept. 17.
This is in line with the 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) celebration this year.
With the 10-year overarching theme “Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant Heroes,” the thematic focus this 2024 dwells around the importance of cultivating sustainable management for the achievement of future-ready civil service.
CSC Assistant Commissioner Nerissa B. Canguilan served as the keynote speaker of the activity.
There were 31 regional winners with five national semi-finalists from Western Visayas who were recognized composed of the winners under the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award, Dangal ng Bayan Award, and CSC PAGASA Award.
“From 63 nominations, these 31 awardees this year are living proof of what it means to be agile and future-ready. In each of their fields, they have shown that innovation, empathy, and perseverance are key to creating lasting change. They have made public service more than just a duty, but rather a calling,” said Canguilan.
She also considered Western Visayas as a “gold mine for exemplars” who are just waiting to be explored and discovered to be properly recognized through the agencies’ PRAISE mechanism and eventually, the CSC Honor Awards Program (HAP).
“Through Pasidungog, we not only celebrate their [winners’] achievements but also inspire others to follow in their footsteps. This awards ceremony has become a tradition because it reminds us that excellence in public service is not just recognized; it is emulated. Each nomination and each award is a testament to the ongoing transformation of our civil service into one that is dynamic, agile, and resilient- capable of shaping the future,” Canguilan added.
