PASIG CITY, (PIA) — Good news! Pasig City was named overall champion in the recently concluded Batang Pinoy national youth sports competition.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto congratulated the young athletes, their parents, coaches, and staff.
“I hope your journey has been an unforgettable character-building experience. Salamat din sa tulong at gabay ng ating mga coach, magulang, at staff,” said Sotto.
According to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the Pasig delegation won a total of 285 medals, with 105 gold, 64 silver, and 116 bronze.
Aside from bagging the Overall Best Performing Local Government Unit (LGU), Pasig City also won the “Pursigido Award,” which is given to an LGU with the biggest delegation.
In 2022 and 2023, Pasig City placed second in the National Championships of the Batang Pinoy.
Meanwhile, the city government expressed continued support and strengthening of sports and sports development programs. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
