Pasig distributes emergency go bags to PUV drivers; boosts disaster preparedness

QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The City Government of Pasig distributed emergency go bags to UV express and jeepney drivers as part of its efforts to strengthen disaster readiness within the community.

This initiative, led by the Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), aims to promote a more inclusive disaster preparedness and proactive emergency response to residents, especially to a sector that is more exposed to road accidents.

It started in the first quarter of 2024, distributing more than 430,000 go bags to every household, public and private schools (one go bag per classroom), public hospitals, government offices, as well as 12,000 to tricycle operators and drivers associations (TODA) members.

Each emergency go bag contains a flashlight, glowstick, whistle, thermal blanket, heavy-duty scissors, zip lock bag, sticker, magnet, a Family Disaster Preparedness Booklet and a first aid kit (a hard case containing alcohol pads, povidone iodine, cotton balls, sterile gauze, medical tape, adhesive antiseptic strip, triangular bandage, elastic bandage).

Meanwhile, the Pasig City DRRMO encourages its constituents to attend disaster response and recovery skills training held regularly in barangays and schools. (JVD/PIA-NCR)
