‘PBBM always there for Oriental Mindoro’ – provincial chief

Oriental Mindoro Gov. Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor drew inspiration from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who stood by their side and helped them during many disasters – the oil spill, African swine fever, El Niño phenomenon and the successive typhoons that continue to hit the province and other parts of the archipelago.

“Pero bilang ama ng lalawigan, mas madali nating hinarap ito dahil mayroon tayong ama sa Pambansang Pamahalaan na ramdam natin ang malasakit at pagmamahal sa bawat isang Mindoreño,” Dolor said in his speech during President Marcos’ aid distribution to farmers and fisherfolk in the province.

The governor made the remarks as he recalled the last two years of his administration that were marked by various challenges.

Dolor said President Marcos extended PhP300 million in financial assistance to families affected by the oil spill through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Agriculture (DA), and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

He also acknowledged the efforts of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Dolor said President Marcos extended PhP5 million in financial assistance for over 6,000 farmers affected by the El Niño phenomenon and PhP56 million for residents affected by the ASF that recently hit Mindoro.

President Marcos led the distribution of PhP46.14 million in financial assistance in the province. He extended PhP10,000 each to 4,546 farmers and fisherfolk and their families at the Abada College Gymnasium in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro.

Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Jonvic Remulla and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian joined in distributing PhP683,449.32 in financial assistance.

Before concluding his speech, Dolor thanked President Marcos for signing Republic Act 12055, declaring every November 15 of every year as a special non-working holiday in Oriental Mindoro in commemoration of its founding anniversary. |PND
