PUERTO PRINCESA CITY (PIA) — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has announced projects that will strengthen the economy of Palawan.
During his visit in the City of Puerto Princesa on July 18 for the distribution of Presidential Assistance for Farmers, Fisherfolks, and their Family (PAFFF), the President cited the ongoing Ibato-Iraan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project in the town of Aborlan, where the dam component is 95 percent completed.
He also mentioned the irrigation project for farmers in Papualan, Sumbiling, Timburan, Bagong Bayan, and Apurawan worth more than P200 million.
He is also prioritizing the tourism industry of Palawan and the improvement of transportation through the Puerto Princesa Airport Development Project and the Pag-asa Island Airport Development Project.
In response to the constant loss of electricity in Palawan, President Marcos ordered the Maharlika Investment Corporation, together with the National Electrification Administration and the Palawan Electric Cooperative, to conduct a study to improve the electricity supply in the province
He also announced the construction of the Balabac Military Runway in the municipality of Balabac, as Palawan will play a big role in national security. (OCJ/PIA-MIMAROPA, Palawan)
