President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday assured Nueva Vizcaya’s typhoon-hit residents of sustained government support until they recover.
The President made the assurance as he handed over PhP52 million in financial aid and more than 1,000 boxes of family food packs to the province’s victims of typhoons Nika, Ofel, and Pepito.
“Kaya po ito lahat ay pinagsasama-sama natin kasi ang aming gagawin ay mula ngayon, we will continue to distribute itong relief goods hanggang hindi na nangangailangan ang ating mga kababayan, ang mga tiga-Vizcaya,” President Marcos said during the aid distribution in Bambang.
Of the total amount, PhP50 million came from the Office of the President, while PhP2.5 million was from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
At least 500 beneficiaries received PhP5,000 each under the AICS program.
“Tuloy-tuloy ‘yan hangga’t makabalik na kayo sa inyong tinitirahan at kaya na ninyong bumalik sa dati ninyong buhay,” the Chief Executive added.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported the combined effects of the typhoons impacted 8,168 families or 27,726 persons in Nueva Vizcaya.
Pepito left seven people dead, three injured from a landslide and one missing. A total of 2,824 houses were damaged, of which 284 were totally damaged and 2,540 partially damaged.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC), 109 families or 385 individuals are staying in 12 evacuation centers, while 66 families or 282 individuals are in temporary shelters outside evacuation facilities in the province. |PND
