PBBM distributes assistance to Western Visayas farmers, fisherfolk

MANILA — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday led the distribution of financial assistance, machineries, and equipment to farmers and fisherfolk in El Niño-hit Western Visayas.

“Batid namin na kailangan ninyo ng sandigan at kaagapay upang mapagtagumpayan ang mga pagsubok na kaakibat ng El Niño,” President Marcos said in his speech at the Binirayan Sports Complex in San Jose De Buenavista, Antique.

During the event, the President led the ceremonial distribution of PhP10,000 each to select 10 beneficiaries from Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Capiz, and Aklan.

President Marcos also handed over PhP50 million assistance to the provincial government of Antique; PhP50 million to the provincial government of Iloilo; PhP28.41 million to the provincial government of Guimaras; PhP50 million to the provincial government of Capiz; and PhP50 million to the provincial government of Aklan.

The President also led the turnover of farm machineries and equipment such as post-harvest kits, fiber reinforced plastic boats, bags of seeds, bio-fertilizers, a power sprayer, a multicultivator, a four-wheel tractor, a rice combine harvester, floating tillers and seednuts.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed PhP10,000 each to 10,000 beneficiaries composed of farmers, fisherfolks, and families.

On the other hand, the Office of Speaker Martin Romualdez distributed five kilos of rice to each of the attendees. (PND)
