ILOILO CITY — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the ‘Trabaho Para sa Bagong Pilipinas’ initiative, a job-matching event for close to 3,000 graduating beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
This program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) aims to empower 4Ps beneficiaries toward self-sufficiency.
“Dumaan po ako rito para makita kung maayos ang aming ginagawa na para sa DSWD na assistance, para sa job fair, pati na ang patakbo ng Kadiwa, kaya’t kinumpleto napo namin para yung mga naghahanap nag-a-apply ay pwedeng mag register, dalawang libo yata ang nag register na mag-a-apply. Two thousand five hundred I believe,” Marcos said as he made sure the event went well.
According to DSWD Western Visayas, the 4Ps beneficiaries participating in the event include those from Oton with 339 beneficiaries; Pavia with 40 beneficiaries; Leganes with 52 beneficiaries; Sta. Barbara with 225 beneficiaries; and Iloilo City with 2,344 beneficiaries.
Each beneficiary will undergo a pre-employment orientation and receive P3,000 in food assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
Additionally, those hired on the spot will receive up to P5,000 under the Employment Assistance Fund (EAF) to cover pre-employment requirements such as clearances, medical exams, and other necessary documents.
This job fair event brought together 27 employers and 15 government agencies to assist the applicants.
Bridging job seekers with employers and providing essential support enables 4Ps beneficiaries to build a stable future through employment, skills development, and entrepreneurship, marking a shift from short-term aid to long-term economic empowerment.
To further aid 4Ps families, the Department of Agriculture (DA) brings Kadiwa ng Pangulo to the venue, offering affordable basic commodities and agricultural products.
The Kadiwa Expo featured 42 exhibitors showcasing local products, providing livelihood opportunities for agricultural producers. *(EAD/ED/FRG-PIA Western Visayas)
