ORIENTAL MINDORO (PIA) – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to distribute a total of ₱50 million financial assistance to the victims of Typhoons Kristine and Leon in Oriental Mindoro on November 14 in the town of Pinamalayan.
According to the Department of Agriculture (DA) MIMAROPA, a total of 5,000 beneficiaries from 15 towns in Oriental Mindoro will receive financial aid under the Presidential Assistance for Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families (PAFFF) program.
The beneficiaries will come from the following municipalities, namely Baco with 400 beneficiaries, 180 from Bansud, 797 from Bongabong, 800 from Bulalacao, 41 from Calapan City, 26 from Gloria, 1,100 from Mansalay, 300 from Naujan, 200 from Pinamalayan, 60 from Pola, 150 from Puerto Galera, 200 from Roxas, 46 from San Teodoro, 250 from Socorro, and 450 from Victoria.
In addition to the PAFFF, the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PICC) will also distribute indemnity checks totaling ₱683,449.32 to 48 farmer- beneficiaries coming from 11 towns in Oriental Mindoro.
President Marcos, along with Department of Agriculture Secretary Francis Tiu Laurel Jr., is expected to personally hand over the assistance to the beneficiaries.
The DA report estimates that the combined damage caused by Typhoons Kristine and Leon in the province amounts to approximately ₱318.75 million, affecting 7,811 farmers from 29 barangays and causing landslides in two towns.
During the event, the President is also expected to be joined by DSWD Secretary Rexlon T. Gatchalian, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla Jr. and Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Cesar B. Chavez, Governor Humerlito A. Dolor, Pinamalayan mayor Aristeo A. Baldos Jr. and other local officials.
