ZAMBOANGA CITY (PIA) – Around 10,000 farmers, fisherfolk and families in the province of Sulu are expected to receive P10,000 cash assistance from the President of the Republic of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on July 5.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region IX held a data sharing orientation with Governor Abdusakur M. Tan on the utilization of the Listahanan 3 Database in Sulu. This orientation aims to enhance the implementation and effectiveness of social welfare programs in the region.
In a related event, Governor Abdusakur M. Tan convened an inter-agency preparatory meeting on July 3, 2024, at the Governor’s Office, Sulu Provincial Capitol. The meeting focused on the upcoming visit of a higher official from the national office for the disbursement of the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families (PAFF) program in Sulu.
Representatives from various agencies, including the DSWD Region IX, Ministry of Social Service and Development, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education, Ministry of Labor and Employment, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform, and the Ministry of Interior and Local Government, attended the meeting. These agencies are collaborating to ensure the successful implementation and distribution of the PAFF program.
The Sulu Provincial Government is actively preparing for the visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., scheduled for tomorrow, July 5. The President will personally distribute the Presidential Assistance to the Farmers, Fisherfolk & Families at the Sulu Provincial Capitol gym to an estimated 10,000 target beneficiaries from the province.
Other expected guests in the event are Secretary Antonio F. Lagdameo Jr.,Special Assistant to the President, Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. of Department of Agriculture, Secretary Rexlon T. Gatchalian of Department of Social Welfare and Development, Secretary Benjamin D.C. Abalos Jr. of Department of the Interior and Local Government and Secretary Cheloy E. Velicaria-Garafil, MNSA of Presidential Communications Office.
