7,000 ARBs in Davao Region to be freed from land debts

PANABO CITY, Davao del Norte (PIA) – About 7,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) from the provinces of Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte are expected to benefit from the distribution of certificates to free them from  the burden of paying monthly amortization of the land given them by  the national government.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will lead the handover ceremony that will be  held on December 5 at the Panabo City Multi-purpose Gym.

A total of  9,058 Certificates of Condonation with Release of Mortgage (COCROM)  will be given to 6,948 ARBs during this first batch of COCROM distribution in Davao Region that initially covers  the 3 provinces. 

These certificates of mortgage condonation cover 10,181 hectares of agricultural land across the three provinces and will condone ARBs their total debts of ₱527,694,544.54 since 1988  up to July 2023.

Of the total COCROMs for this initial distribution, 2,337 certificates will be given to 1,731 Davao del Norte ARBs, covering 2,077 hectares with ₱195.7 million in condoned debt.

DAR XI is also set to distribute a total of 4,901 COCROMs for 3,614 Davao de Oro ARBs, covering  5,031 hectares, with ₱256.1 million condoned debts.

In Davao Oriental,  a total of 1,606 ARBs will receive 1,820 COCROMs covering 3,072 hectares, with ₱75.8 million condoned debts.

Rosario S. Maala, chief agrarian reform program  officer of DAR XI said these COCROMs are just a portion of the 11,549 COCROMs for a total of 9,152 ARBs regionwide, freeing them from P678,103,641 combined condoned mortgage.

ARBs of Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental and Davao City will also be receiving COCROMs during the second batch of distribution that DAR XI has set on Dec 11 in Davao del Sur. 

Meanwhile, DAR XI is also set to distribute 550 electronic (E) Titles to another set of 343 Davao del Norte ARBs, owning 345 hectares, during the ceremony tomorrow. 

A total of 122 ARBs of Davao del Sur will also be receiving e-Titles for lands spanning 122 hectares. 

Davao City 142 ARBs will  receive 144  regular Certificate of Land Ownership Awards (CLOAs) during the same ceremony. 

On top of distributing mortgage condonation certificates and titles, DAR XI has  also poured resources for support services such as farming equipment, such as tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems, with a total cost of Php 13,011,361.00, benefiting 774 ARBs regionwide.  (JMDA, PIA XI)
