TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will lead today, March 14, the government’s Trabaho at Serbisyong Pangkalusugan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Old Manunca, Sta. Rita, Samar bringing more jobs, medical services, payout to TUPAD beneficiaries, award livelihood grants, and offer one-stop shop of government services.
This government’s initiative is a collaborative engagement of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Health (DOH), and Department of Agriculture (DA), with the support of the provincial government of Samar, the local government of Sta. Rita, and other stakeholders.
The activity focuses on creating job opportunities for exiting and graduating eligible beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), empowering them to meet their necessities while advancing the nation’s development.
Jobseekers will have the chance to be employed on-the-spot as the Department of Labor and Employment will be bringing 15 local employers offering more than 500 local vacancies and three overseas employers with more than 2,500 overseas vacancies.
DOLE’s TUPAD or the TulongPanghanapbuhaysaAting Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers, a community-based program that provides short-term emergency employment for displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers, will be paying out P4,200 each of the 1,000 workers for their 10 days work.
The President will also be giving DOLE’s livelihood grants to 97 beneficiaries from Villareal, a nearby municipality, which will amount in total to more than P2.9 million.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will be providing aid to over 1,900 beneficiaries under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) will join hands to feature the KADIWA ng Pangulo, a marketplace that provides accessible and affordable food and other commodities for Filipino consumers to cushion the effects of global inflation, while helping local producers earn more through a direct farm-to-market consumer trade.
Kadiwa stalls will be available at the venue to provide affordable basic goods and commodities to the beneficiaries and the public.
The Department of Health (DOH), on the other hand, will conduct a medical mission, with medical check-ups, dental care, and a number of other medical services.
DOLE Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma, DOH Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa, PCO Secretary Jay C. Ruiz, provincial and local government officials are also expected to attend the event.
The Trabaho at SerbisyongPangkalusugansa Bagong Pilipinas is putting into reality the President’s commitment to empowering Filipinos through initiatives focused on job creation and health services and bringing the government’s services closer to the people. (CBA/ACR/PIA Eastern Visayas)
