ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and the provincial government of Capiz have distributed 3,410 coconut seedlings to farmers in Barangay Apero, Tapaz town, reinforcing the province’s commitment to agricultural sustainability and economic development.
PCA information officer Erica Dorondon noted that the program directly benefits farmers from barangays Agcococ, Apero, Camburanan, Candelaria, Cristina, Garcia, Roosevelt, and San Julian in Tapaz town.
“It aims to provide the beneficiaries with resources to improve their livelihood and strengthen the local coconut industry,” she added.
During the event, PCA provincial coconut development manager Andy Laurilla emphasized the value of coconut farming.
“Wala sayang sa lubi, tanan may pulos gid,” Laurilla stated, highlighting the importance of maximizing every part of the coconut tree for various uses, further encouraging farmers to invest in the industry.

Moreover, Tapaz municipal mayor Roberto Palomar expressed his gratitude for the provincial government and the PCA’s continued support in empowering Tapaz farmers.
Palomar highlighted that initiatives like Kalubihan sa Kamaisan not only promote environmental sustainability but also provide long-term economic benefits to local communities.
The Kalubihan sa Kamaisan project of the PCA and the Capiz provincial government aims to promote sustainable farming practices, environmental conservation, and economic growth through coconut intercropping in cornfields.
Tapaz town is the sixth municipality in the province to launch the Kalubihan sa Kamaisan project, aiming to mitigate flooding and soil erosion in upland areas while providing alternative livelihood opportunities for farmers. (AGP/PLF/PIA Capiz)
