PCO urges Zambo Sur BIOs to be ‘Bagong Pilipino in a Bagong Pilipinas’

PAGADIAN CITY (PIA) – Aiming to empower and capacitate Barangay Information Officers (BIOs) in Zamboanga del Sur, the Presidential Communications Office spearheaded the Zamboanga Peninsula’s first-ever Barangay Information Officers’ Network (BION) Assembly, through Director Sheryll Anne Mundo, who discussed becoming a “Bagong Pilipino in a Bagong Pilipinas”.

Dir. Mundo engaged the BIOs on their thoughts and impressions upon hearing the phrase “Bagong Pilipinas” and how it relates to developmental communication.

She explained that the campaign is a call for transformation, and that it challenges Filipinos to change for the better through putting trust in the government while also acknowledging the role they also play in nation building.

Dir. Mundo also highlighted, especially to the BIOs, that part of their role is making the services of the government available to fellow Filipinos.

“Trust begins with the people’s realization of the power, as well as the part they play in government,” she said.

Director Sheryll Anne Mundo is a seasoned communications professional with a diverse background in journalism and media relations, who has honed her skills in bridging the gap between media and government. (EDT/PJF/PIA9-Zamboanga del Norte)
