MANILA, (PIA) — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) is set to relaunch its esteemed chorale with a special concert titled “Celebrating Our Milestones” on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the GSIS Theater. This event marks the 90th anniversary of the agency and promises to be a night of musical celebration.
The concert will feature a 16-piece string ensemble accompanying the choir, with the first half of the performance dedicated to songs that reflect key milestones in PCSO’s rich 90-year history.
The second half will showcase a repertoire that embodies the core values of the PCSO and aligns with the “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines) initiative of the Marcos administration.
Among the notable attendees will be Imelda Papin, the “Sentimental Songstress,” who has recently been appointed to the PCSO Board of Directors. Papin is expected to perform several numbers during the event, adding a special touch to the celebration.
Established in 1998, the PCSO Chorale was officially introduced during the agency’s 64th anniversary. The choir has since played a vital role in enhancing the agency’s profile through musical excellence at various state events and local competitions.
The chorale has also achieved significant honors, including a 1st runner-up finish in the GCAA-sponsored choral competition in 2000 and a 1st prize win at the National Apostleship of Prayer Christmas Carol Competition later that same year.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic prompted a hiatus for the chorale in 2020. It was revived in September 2023 under the leadership of PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles.
Renowned conductor and arranger Robert Delgado has been appointed as the new musical director, guiding the chorale as it resumes its role as Ambassadors of Goodwill and continues to elevate PCSO’s corporate image through captivating musical performances.
The concert promises to be a highlight of PCSO’s anniversary celebrations, showcasing the enduring spirit and cultural contributions of the organization.
