ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — At least 300 residents of Odiongan, Romblon benefited from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Romblon branch’s two-day charity event in observance of the National Day of Charity.
PCSO-Romblon Branch Manager Kristy Fetalver said the event was part of their observance of the National Day of Charity, as designated by Proclamation No. 598 signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
On the first day, the team visited Barangay Panique in Odiongan town, where PCSO, along with Pines Estate Gaming Corporation, distributed food packs, slippers, and hygiene kits to 20 students from Palati Elementary School, an Indigenous Peoples (IP) school in the barangay. In addition, the PCSO donated a tablet to the school for students’ use.
The children and their parents expressed joy and gratitude for the gifts.

“Thank you so much for the Christmas gifts for the children. I’m happy, especially for my child,” shared Gerlita Belchez, who noted that it can be challenging to buy necessities like slippers.
PCSO also provided free breakfast to approximately 250 shoppers at Odiongan Public Market on the day of the National Day of Charity, where people eagerly lined up to partake.
In appreciation of cemetery workers, PCSO visited Dapawan Public Cemetery, providing packed lunch and free hygiene kits for them, acknowledging the essential role of these workers in maintaining cleanliness and order in the cemetery, especially during times of increased visitor traffic.
Mary Rose Fallaria, PCSO Romblon’s Social Welfare Officer, emphasized that public support for PCSO programs enables the agency to continue charitable activities and medical assistance programs.
“We hope they continue to support PCSO’s products, as this helps us provide medical assistance to patients here in Romblon and other parts of the Philippines,” said Fallaria. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
